I love meeting new couples and hearing their love stories! When I first starting writing back and forth with Nick about an engagement session with his fiancé, Chou, I immediately knew our session would be a great one. They are both so kind and have fun personalities; they were nothing but smiles and laughs the entire time. They have a unique love story and a unique engagement ring which I was just dying over!
Nick and Chou met online with OK Cupid a couple years ago. When I asked them who reached out to who, Chou lit up and said, "I did!"; I loved her excitement in remembering seeing Nick for the first time. When I asked what it was about Nick that made her want to reach out initially she giggled and said she thought he was cute and he said he was over 6 feet tall, plus she liked what he said about himself. I thought it was adorable when Nick asked Chou if she ever wondered if maybe he was exaggerating about his height online. haha They decided to meet for the first time in Schiller Park to take a walk and just get to know each other. They sat on one of the many benches in the park and talked for 90 minutes. The words came easy and they just clicked right off the bat.
Well when I heard this I knew we had to go back to Schiller Park where it all began! We even stopped at the exact bench where they first met. How romantic is that?! We were about half way through the session when i asked Chou if I could see her engagement ring and I was so excited when I saw how unique her ring was. The ring consists of 3 gold bands linked together. The bands were made of white gold, rose gold, and yellow gold. Chou explained that when she was looking through jewelers to see what style she liked, she found this ring. The ring was meant to represent love, friendship, and fidelity; these are the traits Nick and Chou share in their relationship. I was a swooning mess on the inside when I heard them share the ring's meaning. I was surprised when they later thanked me for not mentioning anything about the ring not having any kind of stone. I told them that I don't think it matters what the ring looks like as long as it is meaningful to the couple; and theirs holds SO MUCH meaning. Plus it is beautiful!!
Nick recently graduated from Ohio State with his degree in Optometry and Chou has received her degree in Pharmacology from Ohio Northern University; so they have been incredibly busy the last few years. This is such an exciting time for them as a couple and I was thrilled to be a small part of it. When I asked them when they were planning to get married Nick answered, "Next Wednesday"! Last Wednesday Nick and Chou got dressed up and went to the courthouse and were married by a justice of the peace. I saw the photos the took and they both looked so happy and I once again became a pile of mush. They are preparing to relocate for the last part of Nick's residencies and then they will have a traditional wedding next year, once everything is more settled for them. I loved spending the evening with the new Mr. & Mrs. Green and I could not be happier for them.
