Oh how sweet this session was! For about a week I was writing back and forth with Keenan Young about his plan to propose to his beautiful girlfriend, Kim Walls. The best part was Kim truly did not expect the proposal to come at this time; she was truly in the best kind of shock! These two have known each other going on 10 years and became a couple going on 1 year. This is the first time I saw them interact as a couple and it was so sweet it moved me to tears.
Keenan's plan went perfectly. We met at Goodale park and set up a picnic for them to enjoy by the lake. Kim was currently in a class over at Ohio State and Keenan told her that he wanted to take her on a special date before church that night. He got her to put on a cute dress, which he matched with his own style as well! He played everything so cool that Kim really did not know that there was much more waiting for her at this picnic than lemonade and sandwiches! Once we got the text from Kim that she was on her way, it was time to hide. This was the moment my own stomach filled with butterflies and I began to shake. I couldn't help it, the whole moment was so exciting and we wanted to make sure it went perfectly.
Kim arrived looking so beautiful and I saw Keenan's face light up when she walked up to him. After taking a photo of his almost fiancé, Keenan handed Kim a glass of lemonade and began to unpack the picnic. The first item he unpacked...was his great grandmother's engagement ring in a beautiful white box. While I was out of ear shot to know exactly what he said, I do know he asked her to be "forever Young" with him! Is your heart melting because I know mine was! Once it was clear she said yes and they had a moment to them selves, Keenan pointed me out to Kim and we began to squeal with excitement. Kim is a bridesmaid in one of my upcoming weddings and I had the joy of meeting her before this special moment. It was so exciting to share in the excitement with them both. They were both radiating with pure joy and kept laughing and Kim even said her cheeks began to hurt from her huge smile that never went away.
As we took a few photos after the proposal, and before I left them to enjoy the picnic Keenan really did pack, I loved hearing the sweet things they kept saying to each other. "I love you!" "I can't wait to marry you!" My favorite came from Keenan; "Babe, you're not my girlfriend anymore! You're my fiancé!!" SO SWEET!!!
Congratulations Kim and Keenan!
