If you follow my Instagram page you’ll know that a couple weeks ago I moved to a new apartment. I have been so excited for this change of scene. I love the new bay window with the fun view of downtown Circleville; a town I love living in. Something extra fun about my new place is that it has access to the roof with the BEST view. Last night I took two of my friends with me to get some pictures, take in the view, and watch the sunset. We had so much fun and the sunset was so beautiful.
I love watching the sun rise and set because it always makes me feel closer to God. The world is always at its most beautiful, to me, during this golden hour. It is a visual reminder to me of God’s love and faithfulness to us. I don’t know about you but I am a worrier and tend to let the little worries of daily life take over my thoughts. That is why Matthew 6:25-26 is such a special verse to me. In this passage we are reminded of God’s faithfulness and how worthless our worrying is. The passage says this:
"For this reason I say to you, do not be worried about your life, as to what you will eat or what you will drink; nor for your body, as to what you will put on. Is not life more than food, and the body more than clothing? Look at the birds of the air, that they do not sow, nor reap nor gather into barns, and yet your heavenly Father feeds them. Are you not worth much more than they?”
This is something that I have struggled with for years. I have been working on truly putting my full trust in the Lord for every area of my life. A couple weeks ago when my pastor was preaching on this very passage he asked this rhetorical question.
“Why is it we can claim to trust God with our eternal security, but not our tomorrow?”
OUCH! I realized that I do that all the time! The thing is I am not sure why because God has never given me any evidence that He wouldn’t take care of me. Even when trials have come God has always been good. That’s the key to remember I think. God never promised hard times wouldn’t come; but he did promise that He would never leave our side no matter how sweet the times or how hard trials are.
It’s amazing the things God will use to remind you of His love; in my case tonight it was a front row view of a beautiful sunset with sweet friends at my new home.
