I cannot begin to express how special this wedding was! I have been talking with Jon and Issa about this day for 6 months and I was ecstatic that this special day finally arrived. The day began with some rain and snow but ended with a beautiful sunset; something I’d prayed for all day long. It was perfect!
It all started with a note on Issa’s windshield from Jon; a note Issa has kept in her wallet ever since. The note simply said...
“Issa, you have been in my prayers. I cannot explain why. – Jon”
The thing was Issa did not know exactly who “Jon” was. Jon and Issa knew each other back in high school but had not seen or heard from the other in about 15 years before God brought them back together. Jon had no idea when he left that note that prayers from another was something Issa was incredibly grateful for. Issa has two phenomenal children, Kaitlyn and Lucas, and they were going through some difficult times when Jon left his note. When days were especially difficult, Issa would pull out the note and remember that someone named “Jon” was praying for her. Once Issa found out who “Jon” was she reached out to him about leaving the note. The two decided to meet up for coffee and hot chocolate so they could catch up and talk about why Jon left the note. Issa asked how Jon knew what she and the kids were going through and his answer was, “I didn’t know.” He just knew the Lord put her in his prayer life. The rest is history!
It is obvious these two are meant to be together. There are so many details to their love story that someone should turn it into a novel; I believe it would be an amazing read! During the ceremony the pastor read Jon and Issa’s entire story to their guests. There was not a dry eye in the house…including my own. Everyone was bursting with joy for this special couple. Kaitlyn and Lucas were especially excited for the wedding because it meant the four of them were becoming an official family! Kaitlyn in particular was practically shaking with excitement while the girls were getting ready! There was such an outpouring of love from everyone involved. It was incredibly beautiful.
There were so many personal touches in this wedding. First of all, Jon’s mother made Issa’s wedding dress from scratch…without a pattern! She also sewed Kaitlyn’s dress as well as the dress for Issa’s Matron of Honor, Kristen. She also added a photo of Issa’s mother, who passed a few years ago, to Issa’s boquet so her mother would be with her as she walked down the isle.
Jon and Issa’s song – While I’m Waiting by John Waller – played a major role in the day. The lyrics were on display at the front of the church and it was the song they shared their first dance to. Issa also had a canvas print made up of the lyrics along with special dates in their relationship as a gift to Jon.
The rustic details they incorporated were perfect! My favorite details would have to be the centerpieces and cakes on the reception tables or the cowboy/cowgirl boots that were worn by the bridal party. The multiple cakes they had from Country Cakes and Bakes were to die for!!! Especially the chocolate cake with Truffle Fudge filling!!
I could talk all day long about this couple and what a special day this was but for now I will share the day through pictures.
