I had the best time photographing little Josilyn (a.k.a. Josie) celebrate her first birthday. It was extra special for me because Josie is my cousin’s daughter. Brittani and Jared have three boys, Jaxon, Nash, and Bowen (Bo). They did not expect to have any more children so when they found out another baby was on the way they were stunned…but incredibly excited. Then when they learned they were having a girl everyone’s excitement multiplied by at least 100! ;) Their boys had been wishing and praying for a baby sister for a long time and they were ecstatic when Brittani and Jared told them that their prayers were finally being answered.

Josie’s first year has been a busy one. She has already lived in two different states, had two surgeries to correct some breathing issues, and in a couple weeks she will move into her third house…with her own unicorn themed bedroom! She’s a little fighter who has already had a busy life and she’s only one!

Josie’s party was filled with family, laughter, and fun. Josie’s party had the cutest details from the purple and pink cake and cookies to the unicorn headband Josie wore. I especially loved the unicorn horns that replaced the traditional party hats! Josie really enjoyed her cake. You could actually see her sugar coma setting in towards the end. The family had a blast celebrating Josie’s first year in true unicorn style!
